2020 was a year unlike any other for small businesses. Covid-19 provided an abundance of obstacles for business owners, leaving many with no other choice than to shut down permanently. Others were required to shut down temporarily in response to shelter-in-place orders with one of them being the barber shop, Artisan Barber. The premium barber shop in NYC closed for a complete quarter at the start of the pandemic and its founder, Charlie McCoy quickly had to come up with new methods to generate revenue. In this strategy McCoy incorporated new marketing techniques, looked into government funding and relied on the loyal clients of the best barbers in NYC to help them ride out the wave.
